Awareness:The Alignment Between Knowing and Feeling (By Alberto Bonizzato – Behavioral Coach)
Within the evolutionary pathway mapped out by POMM (Perspective of Observation of Mind Mechanics), awareness is neither an abstract concept nor a mystical philosophical milestone; it is a technical state of functional alignment. An aware person is an individual who has successfully aligned their states of consciousness, behavioral outputs, and emotional dynamics into a single, coherent synthesis. Such an individual possesses perfect operational clarity regarding what they emit (their own projections) and exactly what they will receive in return (the environmental feedback). 1. The Etymology of Knowing "With" The Italian term consapevolezza (awareness) derives from the verb sapere (to know) combined with the preposition con (with). This linguistic architecture suggests a form of "superior knowledge"—a framework of knowing that carries "something more" along with it. Within our technical analysis, that "something more" represents the precise perception and comprehension of non-cognitive factors. Simple "knowing" (cognition) is, by its very nature, structurally insufficient. I can know rationally and intellectually that I execute a victimistic dynamic, yet this cognitive layout does not render me aware. I achieve authentic awareness only if, in addition to knowing the file, I concurrently feel the non-rational driving impulses that generate that dynamic at the exact millisecond they activate. Knowing vs. Awareness: Knowing is merely possessing the topographical map of a territory; awareness is feeling the physical friction of the terrain beneath your feet as you cross it. 2. Experiential Condition vs. Mnemonic Development A foundational axiom of mind mechanics establishes that awareness is an experiential condition, completely decoupled from mere cognitive accumulation. ・ It Cannot Be Learned from Books: It is mathematically impossible to achieve awareness through the mnemonic development of information or the passive reading of a text. ・ It Is Achieved via Processing: It is attained exclusively through the real-world processing and visceral elaboration of complex emotional lived experiences. The individual is functional and aware only when, in perfect real-time synchronicity, they simultaneously feel and comprehend their instantaneous reality. This specific alignment renders them capable of actively governing the primary affectivity of their internal Emotional Model. Without this synchronized passage, the individual remains merely "conscious" (they visually track the destructive event yet remain an impotent victim to it), utterly unable to interact with their own mental apparatus or command its reactive outputs. 3. Awareness as Emotional Independence Authentic self-awareness is directly identified with the attainment of absolute emotional independence. To be aware means to have decoded one's own projective system to such a critical degree that the organism is no longer unconsciously executed by it. The moment the person ceases to operate as a passive spectator of their automated loops and mutates into the active "pilot" of their own affectivity, reality strips away its nature as a self-produced virtual movie (projection) and converts into a raw field of empirical action. In this optimized state, the person no longer suffers from the systemic deficit that forces them to "request" attention or hunt for external validation; their homeostatic stability no longer depends upon the fluctuating feedback of the entourage, but is anchored upon the internal coherence between what they feel, what they think, and what they execute. 4. The Functional Role of Awareness in Decoding Human Needs Expanding this mechanic, awareness operates as a strict "truth filter" applied directly to the matrix of human needs analyzed in previous chapters. An aware individual is structurally equipped to run a real-time diagnostic query: "Is what my system currently feeling a real need for evolutionary growth, or is it an automated attention-seeking request dictated by my old familial matrix?" This operational distinction is achievable only if the visceral "feeling" (the limbic emotion) is bound to the structural "knowing" (the technical comprehension of the model). Bereft of awareness, the individual will invariably misinterpret baseline apprehension as a vital need, and their own projection as objective reality—condemning the mental vehicle to a cycle of permanent, infinite repetition.
