"Intentions" in Communication: The Fracture Between Cognitive Stream and Somatic Truth (By Alberto Bonizzato – Behavioral Coach) The Dual Layer of Intentionality within Defensive and Negatory Dynamisms, and the Pathologization of Assistance
Every phenomenal action, every micro-gesture, and every single verbal emission responds to a precise functional purpose, completely independent of the subject's capacity to consciously identify its nature. A glance, a variation in vocal timbre, or a bodily posture never emerge within a vacuum; they invariably spring from a bio-relational need or from a neurovegetative stress-test regarding the stability of the ongoing bond. Within the domain of meta-communication, this non-conscious stream does not limit itself to underscoring or coloring the explicit discourse; rather, it carries parallel and autonomous intentions—complex communiqués that express the exact biomechanical placement of the organism relative to the enunciated cognitive data. The communicative setup and the expressive kinematics are entirely pre-conditioned by primary emotional dynamics and the transgenerational Emotional Model. This deep intentionality dictates the actual impact of the message upon the receiver, operating safely below the logical threshold. It is from this immense mass of non-verbal factors that the interlocutor's nervous system decodes, in an anticipatory fashion, the sender's sincerity, the true trajectory of the discourse, and the baseline validity of the interaction.

1. The Communicative Fracture: The Affirmation-Submission Paradox Human communication structures itself across two independent and parallel levels: the verbal-cognitive channel and the non-verbal intentional channel. When these two tracks diverge, a systemic fracture occurs that decomposes and fragments the transmitted message. Mechanical Analysis of the Paradox Consider the scenario where an individual expresses a sharp assertion on the cognitive plane, yet simultaneously betrays a desperate request for validation through their kinetic movement and meta-communication. On the logical-explicit level, an affirmative volition is executed; on the somatic-implicit level, a submission to the listener's judgment is communicated. In this scenario, the explicit statement expresses a theoretical concept formulated according to modalities conventionally accepted by the culture, whereas the meta-communication responds to a secondary objective entirely subordinated to the Emotional Model: bypassing the logical content to forcefully extort a protective relationship (the capture of trust, validation, empathy, or seduction). 2. The Dual Layer of Intentionality within Defensive Systems We define intention as the predetermination of the neuro-behavioral objective of a chain of actions, and intentionality as the overarching framework coordinating these micro-objectives. The human mind possesses the mechanical capacity to process multiple, simultaneous intentions. This dual-level kinematics is highly visible in phenomena such as irony, sarcasm, and comedy—contexts where a single behavior carries and demands opposing or paradoxical contents, showcasing both sides of the same projective coin at once. Within the ordinary relational flow, the alternation between sender and receiver enforces a mutual, coercive conditioning:
Communicative RoleRelational PostureBehavioral MechanicsSenderActive (Conditioning)Configures the nature of the stimulus. Their hierarchical position restricts and binds the receiver's response. If the sender accuses, they mechanically oblige the receiver to activate a defense file.ReceiverPassive (Conditioning)Receives the informational trace. The system is structurally unable to avoid registering the signal (even if it chooses to reject it on a cognitive level). Every subject operates according to their transgenerazionale emotional setup, which shapes projective activity and, consequently, the decoding of messages. The explicit intention pursues the conscious goal, while the implicit intention chases an outcome entirely dictated by the structural deficits of the model. 3. The Preventive Predetermination of Relational Rank Projective activity colonizes the implicit and non-verbal instance of intentions before bending the verbal and explicit level to its absolute purpose. In the hierarchical-functional sequence of the POMM framework, the Emotional Model pre-conditions relationality long before a cognitive thought can even be formulated. In the exact millisecond of preparing to communicate, the organism unconsciously places itself and the interlocutor upon a hierarchical scale of values, calculating in advance the final output of its own projection: ・ Projection of Superiority: If the sender projects themselves into a superior rank relative to the receiver, the alarm arousal of primary fear undergoes a drastic attenuation. The communicative stream exhibits maximum linear efficacy, completely devoid of motor friction. ・ Projection of Inferiority: If the sender projects themselves into an inferior rank, the alarm arousal of primary fear claims dominance over the system. The verbal communication deforms to accommodate defensive protocols and the somatic alterations of submission. It is fundamental to specify that "self-perception" does not refer to a cognitive self-definition or the superficial narrative of the ego, but to the authentic subcortical neurovegetative activation. The implicit intentionality remains structurally dominant and determinant over the conscious one. The organism systematically expresses itself through indirect channels that transcend the conscious communiqué: variables such as look, aesthetics, symbols of belonging, and physical stature act by preemptively modulating environmental projections. Barring pure coincidence, the emotional posture always activates anticipatorily. The individual, by virtue of their historical formatting, prefigures the scenario, places themselves valorially as superior or inferior, and—anchored upon this pre-conceived balance—structures the intentionality and kinetics of their communication. 4. The Circular Loop of Fear and the Role of Negativity The contemporary social structure, with its dense matrix of moral rules and collective stereotypes, drives the individual into a continuous normative comparison aimed at status placement and the redemption of self-image. In this coatta necessity for positioning, the subject fails to notice that the very dynamism of comparison escalates the fear arousal, manufacturing the preventive apprehension of appearing inadequate or outside the norm. A closed and self-destructive circuit is thus ignited:
[COMPARISON RELATIVE TO THE STEREOTYPE] │ ▼ [ESCALATION OF FEAR AROUSAL] (Preventive Apprehension of Inadequacy) │ ▼ [IPER-ACTIVATION OF THE LIMBIC RADAR] (Obsessive Hunt for Validation and Signals) │ ▼ [BIFURCATION OF INTENTIONALITY] (Implicit Expresses Fear / Explicit Screens the Deficit)
This emotional sbilanciamento creates an unbridgeable schism: while the implicit-non-conscious intention directly voices the truth of the emotional state (fear), the explicit-conscious intention desperately attempts to screen and compensate for the deficit. This mechanism explains the systemic relational misunderstanding: the individual is fully convinced they are communicating a cognitive content of value, while conversely, they are communicating their structural fragility somatically. The engine that deforms the emotional posture and its projections is negatorietà (negativity/negation). It constitutes the terminal output of a primary training within the Familial Emotional Model and operates as an automatic defense protocol whenever homeostasis is disrupted. The activation of this defensive negation forces the phenomenon onto the moral plane, triggering the standard sequence:
Fear -------> Defense -------> Victim -------> Injustice -------> Need for Redress
Due to this moralization of projective mechanics, the individual systematically confounds the biological origin (the fear tied to the model's lacuna) with the environmental consequence (the injustice endured and the corresponding necessity for redress). When fear governs the system, intentionality becomes intrinsically contradictory: the adult verbalizes to assert their rank and worth, but their somatic meta-communication ratifies their absolute inadequacy. 5. The Mimicry of Assistance: The Pathologization of the Other as a Strategy of Rank In its most refined and conscious manifestations, the phenomenon of negation executes a highly sophisticated strategy of evolutionary mimicry, camouflaging itself behind socially celebrated and morally unassailable behaviors: ・ Protective paternalism. ・ The rhetoric of "doing what is best for the other." ・ Sacrificial heroism. ・ Philanthropic missions. On the explicit and verbal plane, the subject enunciates an absolute volition of help, support, and care toward the other. On the implicit and structural plane, however, the system executes a prejudice of inefficiency and devaluation of the other. In order to act out their mask of savior and nourish their internal deficit of self-affirmation and validation, the performer mathematically requires that the interlocutor be positioned in a condition of inferiority, weakness, and incapacity. Unsolicited or iper-mediated help is never an act of authentic biological sharing, but a disguised negatory device: an exercise of limbic power that reduces the other to a structurally defective subject so that the sender can claim a pedestal of moral and emotional superiority, temporarily anesthetizing their own deeply rooted sense of inadequacy.
